4 Home Improvement Projects to Tackle this Winter

With the weather turning colder it is sometimes hard to determine which home improvement projects to tackle. Having to wear layers of clothes to battle the cold doesn’t make doing outside projects seem like a great idea. Nor does doing anything inside which will require windows or doors to be open. Here are four ideas to get some improvements done during the winter months.

Replace Door and Cabinet Hardware

One of the easiest ways to give your home a new look is as simple as changing the hardware on all your cabinets and doors. This simple change can provide a seemingly dramatic facelift which is very easy and cost-effective.

Replace Insulation

Winter is the perfect time of year to look at the insulation in your attic. Since heat rises, the attic can become unbearable in summer months, even with a properly working attic fan. Use this colder time to ensure your insulation up there is perfect. Not only will it make summer time visits to the attic more comfortable, but it will also keep the cold out during winter and cut down on costly drafts.

Paint

You may think cold months are not a good time to paint because of the need to ventilate. Thanks to technology, there have been many improvements to paint over the years including eco-friendly, low VOC paints which have little to no toxic fumes that only need a fan to help air out a room.

Redecorate your Bathroom

Winter is a great time to look at your bathroom and get those finishing touches done that you’ve been promising yourself you would get to one day. Small changes such as light fixtures, switch plates, re-painting, or vanity and mirror updates can make a big difference and are perfect for keeping warm inside while still completing your home improvement to-do list.
